Principal's Greeting

At St Johns Hill School, we take pride in the quality of the programmes we deliver, successfully integrating national requirements with local content, innovations and philosophy. Our focus is clearly on the needs of individual learners and our reporting procedures reflect that ideal. A wide range of sporting, cultural and social opportunities indicate our desire to educate the ‘whole’ child.

The staff are well supported by an active and progressive Board, who has set clearly defined goals to determine the direction in which the school will develop over the next three years. The team structure enables us to utilize the strengths and interests of individual teachers and we are fortunate in the calibre of our senior staff.

According to need, there is provision for pupils to be given Learning Support or Extension. Our Year Six pupils assume a variety of leadership roles and are given extensive training to help them organise school-wide events and activities involving other pupils. A team of Student Librarians assist in the running of our Information Centre.

Music and Stage Performance is a feature of our school. Each class takes part in an assembly item and participates in an end of year production. We have a Junior and Senior choir, known for the high quality of their performances.
Our school is also very proud of its thirty pupil strong Kapa Haka group. From its creation, a few years ago, the group has participated in welcoming guests and being part of school ceremonies.

With extensive areas of playing fields and hard surfaces, enhanced by a beautiful area of native bush, and a strong Environmental Education focus, we believe St Johns Hill School is something special.
